OpenScan Shield and Ringlight eCAD

I produced duplicate OpenScan PCBs to learn eCAD, specifically KiCad. For those using these files, they are not 100% accurate to the official OpenScan board designs. The designs have been good enough for me to build my own OpenScan Mini.

Easy things to adjust a few milimeters if you’ve producing your own boards to these designs:

  • Move the mosfet away from the Ringlight connector

  • Adjust the position of the voltage regulator to avoid the motor driver

  • Adjust the switch position to better align with the OpenScan caseworks

  • There is a missing slot on the Shield for a ribbon cable, but it’s not required for the OpenScan Mini.

  • On the Ringlight, the LEDs could be slightly closer to the centre of the board. I just biased the LEDs in that direction when soldering them.
